Endurance

Endurance
 By Riley Fleck

The book Endurance is interesting, a little scary, and exciting, This is why I always want to keep reading it.
Ernest Shackleton and his group try to cross Antarctica,, but their ship gets stuck in the ice and falls apart. After they get out of their ship, they’re stuck on a dangerous frozen ocean and all they have is tents, dog pemmican, and small boats. The ocean melts and now their stuck in boats and getting whipped around by currents and winds. Even if they make to Elephant Island or Clarence Island what will they do?
The author of this book wants the reader to know that you’re not going to get anywhere if you give up, you have to find a way to do it. In Endurance, if the group just gave up they would die.
I really enjoy this book because it’s nonfiction and it’s very long so you have a lot to read! I would tell anyone to read this book if they like history.

Spacewalker

Title: Spacewalker
Authors: Jerry L. Ross with John Norberg

Eileen Collins, the first woman to pilot and command US space missions quotes, “This book is a must-read! Astronaut Jerry Ross has seen our Space Shuttle program from start to finish, and more. No other person has experienced the depth and breadth of the Space Shuttle intrigue as Jerry has. You will be inspired by the story of a young man chasing his dream… and achieving it many times over.” In this book Jerry Ross tells the story of his childhood through his adulthood to become an astronaut. As a child, Jerry Ross grew up in the 1950s in northern Indiana. With his friend Jim Gentleman, he laid down on freshly baled hay beside Jerry’s grandfather’s house and looked up at the stars. Jerry Ross said to his friend, “You know what Jim? Someday people are going to go up there.” “Yeah, right,” Jim replied. Jerry Ross responded, “I’m serious. One day people are going to go up there. And I’m going to be one of them.” Jerry Ross followed his dreams and yes, he became an astronaut. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants inspiration and is interested in space. Who knows, maybe you’ll fly into space! “Follow your dreams,” is what Jerry Ross said to me when I met him. Just like Eileen Collins quoted, this book is a must-read! Spacewalker is a great book in many ways. Jerry Ross wrote this book t0 teach everybody to follow their dreams.

Nadia Comenacia Letters To a Young Gymnast

Nadia Comenacia Letters To a Young Gymnast

Do you like gymnastics? If so, I recommend you read Nadia Comenacia Letters to a Young Gymnast by Nadia Comenacia. This book is an autobiography about a young girl who stole the hearts of everyone at the 1976 Olympics.

To begin, this book is mostly about Nadia Comenacia life and here are some hints about the book. First, she was the first Olympic Gymnast to score a perfect 10.00 on all of the events .Second, it talks about her whole life NOT only the 1976 Olympics. Lastly, it was based on a letter that was written to her. Someone wrote her a letter telling her to explain her life and so the book is based on that letter. In conclusion, there are some hints about the book.

I think that this book is also amazing in so many ways and here are a few. First, it is very adventurous .I think the book gets the most adventurous at the end but throughout the book she takes some big risks like when she tries to defect.  Second, my favorite part of the book is when she almost doesn't make it to a meet and they win! In the middle her and her coach [Belia Coroly] just barely make it to a performance and that part is like your going to die if you stop reading. Lastly the book pulls you in and doesn't let go. When I started reading this book I could not stop and it is 180 pages and I finished it in 3 days. Obviously,  this is a book you can’t miss.

In conclusion, that is why I recommend  this book for anyone 11 and up because there are some scary parts in it. I absolutely think you should read this book and if you don’t you don’t know what you are missing.
