Lost in the Pacific 1942
Lost in the Pacific 1942 by Tod Olson is a great true story of WWII. If you start reading, you’ll never ever want to stop for any reason!
This true story is about eight men who are on a mission to take a to take a VIP deep into enemy territory. The pilot Bill Cherry takes off from a navy base in San Francisco. The crew is smoothly flying over the Pacific Ocean and all is well. Next, the crew misses the fuel stop completely. The crew has to make the decision of their lives; they are going to have to land in the deep Pacific Ocean. Will this brave crew survive? If they do it will be tough.
I really liked this book for a few good reasons. For one it was full of action. For example when all the men landed in the Pacific Ocean, during the night as the men were sleeping, they could feel shark fins bumping the bottom of their rafts. I also liked this book because it's reality and it was a true story. Plus, all the people in the story lived for real life.
I would recommend this book to ages 8-11 or grades 3-5. If you like WWII or true survival stories, you will definitely like this story. I would give this amazing true story 4 and 1/2 stars.
