      Woods runner is an awesome book by Gary Paulsen about 13-year old Samuel and his 40-caliber Pennsylvania flintlock.

Samuel can hunt and survive in the forest but he has no idea what he’s up against. Samuel lives in the wilderness in Pennsylvania. Samuel’s father receives a mysterious letter from an old friend that triggers something. A week or so later, without warning, Samuel's village gets attacked. The results are  bad with many killed and very few taken, including Samuel's parents. His quest is to find his parents and get revenge while the war rages on.  After a while, Samuel gets closer than ever but then passes out and starts getting strange dreams. When he wakes up he finds a man that has knowledge about where Samuel's parents are. This unforsaken war travels throughout the states with no end in sight.  The quest for his parents is over but Samuel still has many challenges ahead of him.

This ten star book has my name at the top of its #1 fan list!!! Many young readers will adore this war book. I would recommend this book to whomever highly desires any kind of war book; I’m guessing it’s one of the top three, maybe even top two war book in the state. This realistic fiction book will capture the minds of readers, any age, or kind.
